Symbols that represent the common threads and relationships of life are prevalent in my art. I am drawn to the repetitive patterns and shapes found in nature. By using familiar imagery such as flowers or a clock or a key, I hope to connect with the viewer and “speak” a common visual language. Art is a form of communication and the continual wonder and visual excitement that I find in the world is what my paintings express. My monotypes combine the ancient art of printmaking with cutting edge technology. Technology has had a tremendous influence on my life and my art. Changing media and working experimentally allows me to play with various media and imagery while reinventing my art. I have gone from working primarily in watercolor to working on monotypes to working on canvas with mixed media. I received a BA from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. After moving to California I received an MA in Art Education from California Lutheran University, Thousand Oaks, as well as a California Teaching Credential (Grades K-12). My work is in numerous corporate and private collections world wide. Some of my corporate commissions include the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York, the Princess Cruise Lines, Florida, and the Crown Plaza Hotel in White Plains, New York. |
